Rock slope repairs might delay traffic

SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. - If you have plans of traveling over Snoqualmie Pass anytime soon, you should expect some delays.

The Department of Transportation will begin work on stabilizing the rock slopes near Midway Curve-- 14 miles east of the summit.

Crews will begin to construct a four lane detour around the site in June. In July, crews will begin to stabilize the rock slopes using tension bolts and mesh fencing.

According to the Department of Transportation, this work is in response to Governor Chris Gregoire's directive that the department needs to assess all unstable slopes in the state following last falls rock slide.
