CBC Returns Home With Hardware From NWAACC Tourney
KENNEWICK, Wash - It was a win that was nothing if not hard-fought. The CBC Hawks, lifted by Nick Cejka's 12-inning single scoring Steve Marquardt, won the 4th NWAACC Title in the school's history Tuesday 6-5 over Lower Columbia. They returned with the hardware today.
Head Coach Scott Rogers held the school's permanent glass trophy in his hands today, while the traveling trophy sat on his desk. Rogers also led the Hawks to an NWAACC title in 2001. He says this year's win was a little retribution for last year's disappointing tourney showing. His Hawks were bounced after a win a two losses in 2005. He says that adversity made this year's sophomores more mature. And it showed.
The Hawks set an NWAACC mark for wins with 45. The old record was 43 set by Everett.
