Former Richland Soccer Player Lori Conrad Tries Out For Team Headed To Russia
Carson, CA - Gonzaga University sophomore defender Lori Conrad was one of several players invited to the U-20 Women's National Team Camp at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Conrad will be competing for one of two spots still available on head coach Tim Schulz's squad. The National Team will play in their World Cup this August in Moscow, Russia. The US squad was grouped with Argentina, France and a combined team from Africa.
As a freshman at Gonzaga last season, Conrad helped the Bulldogs post a 12-4-4 record and climb to No. 18 in the national rankings. Gonzaga earned its first NCAA College Cup berth with Conrad a vital part of the Bulldogs defensive back field. She earned second team All-West Coast Conference honors starting all 20 matches. She was also named to the All-West Region Freshman team and WCC Freshman team. Her lone goal of the season came during a 3-1 win over the University of Idaho. Conrad is from Richland, Wash., and played high school soccer at Richland High.
