Man is Presumed Dead after Kayaking Accident

HORN PAPIDS, Wash. - A 40-year-old man is missing and believed to be dead after a kayaking accident at Horn Rapids Dam.

After four o'clock on Saturday afternoon, rescue crews were called out to Horn Rapids Dam on the Yakima River.  Witnesses saw two men in a two-man kayak without life jackets capsize as they were attempting to drift over the dam.  A 20-year-old man was pulled to shore with only minor injuries.  The other man was seen floating unconscious by witnesses down the river.

Rescue crews had to call off the search Saturday night because they ran out of daylight.

The man who survived had a friend pick him up and take him home from the scene.  Authorities are not releasing the victim's names.
