Dean Hired for New Osteopathic Medical School in Terrace Heights
YAKIMA, Wa - Dr. William Betz will be the first Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences. He's in Yakima right now and officially started his job on the first of June.
Dr. Betz comes from Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine where he was the Associate Dean. He's native to the midwest and practiced medicine for 18-years before getting involved in education eight years ago.
"Well, it's a unique opportunity to start a college of Osteopathic Medicine from the ground up, " says Dr. Betz, " And it's one of those challenges that not very many people have gone through, as far as starting out and having the ability to plan the program and also plan out the architectural design."
Dr. Betz says between now and when the school opens in two years, he'll focus primarily on the accreditation process. He also plans to hire 20 faculty and 10 administrative staff.
