KENNEWICK, Wash. - It's estimated that 64 percent of Tri- Cities residents use the 'WIC' program, a supplemental food and nutrition plan for pregnant women and mothers of small children.
Now some major changes to the program may be on the way.
For over thirty years, wic has offered the same staples: milk and eggs, cheese and cereals. But congress has commissioned a study, and preliminary results are coming in. The foods offered may change.
State health officials are asking participants in the program for their comments, you can write to "wic nutrition program" at P.O. box 47886 in Olympia, 98504.
