RICHLAND, Wash. - As the heartbreaking search for missing kayaker Gary Kirk brings a new tragedy.
A nineteen year old man, a friend of the family, is now himself lost in the waters of the Yakima River.
Rescue crews say the teen was in the Yakima River with some friends near Twin Bridges Road.
He was not wearing a life jacket and he was swept away by the current at around eight o'clock.
Authorities received a cell phone call just before three this morning from a man saying he spotted a body in the river near the Twin Bridges area.
Authorities have not been able to locate the supposed witness or the body. They now classify the report as unsubstantiated.
Kayaker Gary Kirk went missing Saturday and is presumed drowned.
