Yakima County Corrections Cuts Capacity at County Jail
YAKIMA, Wa - Yakima County Corrections continues to take steps to try and limit the inmate population at the county jail. Director Steve Robertson announcing today that eight beds have been removed from capacity.
Six beds in booking used to count toward capacity, but now they will only be used for their intended purpose to keep a close watch on inmates with medical and mental health needs, and two additional beds on the second floor have been taken out with two cells being remodeled for special housing needs.
The total capacity at the county jail is now 898. And total capacity at all facilities that Yakima Cunty Corrections oversees is 1058.
*These numbers don't include the new jail at State Fair Park because right now it's not operating.
