YAKIMA, Wash. - A baby girl is now safe after she was left in a vehicle that was stolen. Police responded to the carjacking call from a business on 11th Avenue in Yakima just after 2 p.m.
The baby's mother left her in an unlocked car with the windows rolled down and keys in the ignition, said Jeff Schneider, captain with the Yakima Police Department.
The suspect attempted to evade police leading them on a car chase, hitting a parked car, and then ran away, Schneider said.
Police rescued the baby girl in the car and blockaded the area.
If you have any information regarding the carjacking you are encouraged to call 911.
