Street Racing a Problem in Yakima

YAKIMA, Wash.- Police say street racing in Yakima is a serious and growing problem.  In the last calendar year, Yakima police report 32 cases of street racing in Yakima, the last incident taking place just under a month ago. Police say most cases involve young adults, ages eighteen to twenty-five years old. They say reckless driving and high speeds are a recipe for disaster.

Right now they're working hard to crack down racing in Yakima. Police remind drivers that street racing is a gross misdemeanor that could land you a year in jail and up to a 5-thousand dollar fine.
