Sun Kings GM Austin Steps Down

YAKIMA, Wash. - The Yakama Sun Kings begin a search for a new general manager. Rich Austin announced he's stepping down as the team's GM to take over as the new Director of Sports for the Yakima Valley Sports Commission.

"I've been with the Sun Kings on and off since 1990," says Austin, "but it's time for a little bit of a change."

Austin oversaw operations this past year when the Sun Kings captured their 4th CBA Championship. He'll officially join the sports commission on July 5, 2006.

Sun Kings' head coach Paul Woolpert says that it's possible that he could assume a dual role with the Sun Kings - as head coach and general manager.

The Sun Kings are owned by the Yakama Nation.
