Richland Police Get Creative to Get Drivers to Slow Down
RICHLAND, Wash. - Police are getting creative to get you to slow down in Richland.
The closure of George Washington Way and Columbia Point Drive sent cars into quiet neighborhoods searching for detours over the weekend. Many drivers sped through residential areas, causing police to pull out their ticket books.
Richland police said they wrote dozens of tickets and even used empty police cars as decoys to slow traffic down. Along with parked police cars, officers used laser and radar detectors and let drivers know how fast they were going with marked speed guides on the roads.
