Kennewick, Wash. - Preliminary numbers are in on kids who passed and failed the tenth grade WASL this year. Two local school districts have released early statistics, while a third will have figures to release on Friday.
In Pasco, approximately 450 of 700 students will have to take the WASL a second time. In Kennewick, close to 400 teenagers will re-take the test, out of 1150. Richland School District officials are still tabulating test scores.
August 7-10 will be the first opportunity to take the test a second time. Although many kids are already studying for the exam, there are many in the area who are not aware they are required to formally register, and that they can do so on-line.
