PASCO, Wash. - Driving a school bus can be a tough job.
Bus drivers from all over Washington came to Columbia Basin College for a Safety Competition Rodeo. The winners will advance will to nationals in Kentucky.
Drivers competed in mock emergency situations, drove through obstacles and deal with special needs students.
Dani Hylton has been driving for 11 years and knows the daily stresses all too well.
She said, "We're are seeing a lot more different disabilities coming through the school system, a lot more challenging behaviors....it's one thing to sit on the bus and think what would I do and it's another thing to actually get on the bus and have children with disabilities and be able to actually evacuate the bus."
Evacuating the bus is a major part of today's competition which is an everyday responsibility for drivers.
