Kennewick Police Make Graffiti Arrest

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Kennewick Police grab another arrest in their push to stop graffiti.

Wednesday they caught a suspect who allegedly defaced a public park then fell asleep on a nearby bench.

Wednesday morning someone called to report graffiti in the men's bathroom at Underwood park. Officers interviewed a man sleeping on a park bench and noticed a blue marker in his pocket. A witness confirmed the man used the marker to deface the bathroom, and Police arrested 22 year old Jose Villapando.

Officers said they have no tolerance for graffiti taggers. And hope citizens continue to report it.

"If we allow this to continue, its going to get out of hand. We're going to be seeing more and more incidents," said Officer Roman Trujillo, Kennewick Police Department.

Witnesses told police they saw similar graffiti in a neighborhood close to the suspect's home.

Officers confirmed the man put his gang name on both properties.
