A new poll released Thursday shows Sen. Maria Cantwell leading Mike McGavick by just 4 percentage points in the U.S. Senate election.
The poll by Strategic Vision showed Democrat Cantwell with support of 47% of likely voters. Republican McGavick had 43% support. Ten percent were undecided.
Strategic Vision did the phone poll last week of 800 likely voters in Washington State.
Cantwell narrowly won the senate seat in 2000, defeating incumbent Senator Slade Gorton by a little more than 2,000 votes.
The poll also asked voters about a potential rematch for governor in 2008 between Democrat Christine Gregoire and Republican Dino Rossi. According to the polls Rossi would win the rematch 51% to 39%. Gregoire beat Rossi in 2004 by just 133 votes.
