Diver Finds Stolen Goods in Columbia River

RICHLAND, Wash. - A man scuba diving in the Columbia River near the Snyder Boat Launch in Richland finds some burried treasure.

John Green found a pillowcase full of stolen goods.  The pillowcase had several credit cars, a checkbook, a knife, and several family heirloom rings inside.

Tim Portlock said someone kicked in the door of his home and burglarized it last March.  The burlar got away with several valuable pieces including several rings.

Portlock said he did not know whether he would ever see the rings again.  He said the rings have been in his family for generations and he's amazed to have them back.  The diamond in one of the rings was both his mother's and his wife's engagement diamond.

Portlock said he's impressed with the Richland Police Department for contacting him within minutes of finding his goods.

Police did not say whether the discovery will lead them to a suspect.
