Pasco Celebrates Independence Day with Parade

PASCO, Wash. - The 4th of July brought out the red, white, and blue to downtown Pasco for the traditional Grand Old Fourth parade.

Congressman Doc Hastings was among the dignitaries who took part in the procession.

Children waved at the passing cars, trucks, and horses while paraders tossed out handfuls of candy.

It was Pasco's first major gathering since the immigration reform demonstrations of May 1, and resident Ricardo Chavez saw a connection between the two days, saying, "Today it's the same thing, expressing that freedom from generations past to present and being able to see and feel it here on Independence Day."
