Finley Death Investigation

BENTON COUNTY, Wash. - The Benton County Coroner said he now knows the cause of death for the woman allegedly murdered in a remote part of Benton County. And Benton County Sheriff's Deputies believe they have the murderer.

The County Coroner said 18 year old Yana Samolyuk bleed to death from stab wounds, and the Sherriffs said he believes her estranged husband Igor Samolyuk killed her.

Monday around 4:15 a.m. Kennewick Police responded to a domestic dispute between Yana and Igor at Starbucks off Highway 395. Officers said the couple broke no laws, and Yana and Igor left in his 1997 Honda Civic.

The couple ended up in a remote part of Benton County East of Finley. The two got into an argument, and sheriff's detectives believe Igor stabbed her. Although Sheriff Larry Taylor said they're not looking for other suspects, he said they still have a lot work to do.

"We interview friends, acquaintances, anybody we can to investigate properly, trying to cover every aspect of the investigation," Taylor said.

He said deputies found Igor sitting in the driver's seat of his car with the door propped open, and his estranged wife dead in the passenger seat.

The sheriff said Yana had just given birth two and a half weeks ago.

Deputies are holding Igor in Benton County Jail on probable cause.
