Finley Murder Charges
KENNEWICK, Wash. - Benton County Prosecutors said they're charging the estranged husband of the woman murdered in a remote area of Benton County.
Before Wednesday prosecutors and sheriff's deputies said they could only suspect Igor Samolyuk killed his wife Yana. Prosecutors said they now have enough evidence to charge him with 2nd degree murder. That basically means the Benton County Prosecutor thinks Igor intentionally killed his wife Sunday morning, but the prosecutor doesn't think Igor planned out the murder.
However, Wednesday the prosecutor announced he is adding three allegations of aggravated circumstances to the murder charges. One allegation of deliberate cruelty, one for domestic violence and one allegation because prosecutors claim Igor knew his wife's death would have a profound impact on her new born baby.
"We already have the autopsy reports which indicate that there were more than one or two stab wounds. The nature of the wounds described by Coroner Floyd Johnson two days ago indicate that there was more force than necessary used in killing her," said Benton County Prosecutor Andy Miller.
The three allegations will give Miller the opporunity to seek penaties beyond the maximum level allowed for 2nd degree murder.
Igor will have a chance to respond to the charges next week at his arraignment hearing July 19th.
