Government pitches in to help growers find workers

YAKIMA, Wash. - New efforts are underway to help growers in the Yakima Valley find help with this years crop.

According to WorkSource Yakima, the need for workers is higher than ever because of the amount of crops that need to be picked.

Last year the number of workers registered with WorkSource was close to 2,200. This year that number has jumped to 3,000.

The number of growers using WorkSource has also increased.

Last year only 100 growers used the program. This year that number is up to 146 growers.
