KENNEWICK, Wash. - Now that the Detroit Gold Cup is in the books, the hydroplane drivers turn their attention to the Columbia River. They're off next weekend, with their next action coming July 28th at the Rumble on the River.
Fifty thousand fans show up in one of the most popular ABRA races, but the course itself leaves something to be desired by driver Dr. Ken Muscatel, one of many who have flipped on the Columbia.
"The race itself is a great race, and it's a tremendous amount of fun and I really enjoy it," said Muscatel. "The race course is god-awful. It's because of the current. It's that first turn and that is where we sometimes flip. I've been over twice in Tri-Cities. So, it's a fast course."
