Search for Fire Witnesses

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Kennewick Police Officers and Fire Fighters still don't know what caused Sunday's suspicious fire in a field near WinCo, but they think two people may have some answers.

Around one o'clock Sunday afternoon, several witnesses said they saw two teenagers walking from the field where the fire began. WinCo's surveillance cameras captured the boys as they walked past the store.

Investigators said the boys are not suspects, but right now they are the only people police think can help investigators learn what happened.

Firefighters don't think the fire started with natural causes, but they don't have any evidence of arson. They want to talk to anyone with any information, especially the two teenagers.

"We'd like to talk to them. They are this point witnesses. We'd like to know what they saw, and who they saw leaving the area," said Sgt. Ken Lattin, Kennewick Police Department.

Fire fighters are also suspicious of a fire Sunday night near railroad tracks along Canal Drive. They don't believe that fire started naturally either, but they also don't have any evidence of arson.

If you know any information about Sunday's fire near WinCo, or Monday's fire near Canal Drive, call Crime Stoppers at 586-TIPS or 1-800-222-TIPS.
