RICHLAND, Wash. - Five gallons of fuel spilled into the columbia river Tuesday night and the Department of Ecology had to be called. Workers came out early Wednesday morning and the fuel spill has been contained.
The Franklin County Sheriff's office reporter that a fuel pump broke while being worked on in the part of the river behind Chuck-E-Cheese along Columbia Center Boulevard. Deputies say the problem was a result of bad pipe fitting.
A boat was also called out to check for fuel down river along with a plane to check by air but they didn't find any.
