THE DALLES, Ore. - The Army Corps of Engineers and fish biologists at The Dalles Dam admit they're losing fish, but they're not sure the turbines are to blame.
Corps spokeswoman Diana Fredlund says, "There are still a lot of animals and birds that think salmon are really tasty."
There's even a bounty out for Northern Pike Minnows, BPA pays anglers who catch them. A fish biologist says pike minnows may be lying in wait just below the dam, preying on the young salmon coming over. They're beginning a pilot study, to see if that's really the case.
