Local Fighter to Enter Cage for Last Time

YAKIMA, Wash. - After ten years, Rich Guerin has decided to retire from Ultimate Fighting. On Saturday, Guerin will fight competitively for the final time at the Yakima SunDome. The Battle Dome event will feature mixed martial artists in a no-holds bar cage match.

Guerin, 35, retired once before but then decided to come back. This time he says it's for good.

"Mentally, I have other things to focus on," says Guerin.

Guerin runs Yakima Mixed Martial Arts on 1401 Fruitvale Boulevard in Yakima. He trains fighters in the disciplines of mixed martial arts. Guerin wants to use "retirement" to teach and train others.

Guerin, who earned the nickname "El Chupacabra" (a small vampire like animal) while fighting in Mexico, will face Cedric "Spiderman" Marks in his final fight.

Guerin said he wouldn't make a "Joe Namath like guarantee" but did say "I feel like I'm going to smash this guy"

The event begins Saturday at 8:00 at the SunDome.
