Encouraging Progress on Tribal Education in Public Schools.

On May 25th, Educators from throughout Washington State met with the Colville Tribe to discuss tribal history and education.  The meeting was focused on getting native history and culture into the public school curriculum.

While a bill was signed into law April 28 th , 2005 encouraging tribal history to be included in the school curriculum, there was no mandate to include it.

At the gathering where more than 12 tribal and Washington state educational agencies met, a memorandum of agreement was signed for the bill to implement state and tribal policy.
