YAKIMA, Wash. - The City of Yakima is preparing for a catastrophic event.
City officials, Yakima Police and the Yakima Fire Department gathered at the Sundome Monday to learn how to deal with an emergency situation.
The class is called, "Valley Response 2006," and this is the second part of a four part series.
Monday's scenario taught officials how to respond in an emergency and how to manage themselves under an incident command system.
"People have to understand how they fit into that management structure," said Jim Hall, director of Emergency Management. "Where do they get their direction, who makes the decisions, and where and how do you prioritize resources to respond."
