Mike Weber retires as unlimited driver: "Felt like I was holding the team back"

KENNEWICK, Wash - "It started in Detroit," said team manager and now, former driver, of the U-5 FormulaBoats.com Mike Weber.  "I just got to the point where I didn't have the drive and desire driver a race boat."

But he held on through Detroit after team owner Ted Porter asked him to re-consider.  So he came to the Tri-Cities.

"(Tri-Cities) is one of my favorite races... had a little bit of success there... comfortable on the course," he said.  "Thought maybe we'd win a couple of heats there and I'd want to keep going, but it just wasn't there."

So, he announced his retirement to concentrate on his role as team manager of the U-5 & U-7.

"I felt like I was holding the team back.  It was obvious in my mind that I wanted to concentrate on team managing."

The team hasn't named a replacement driver, but will shortly.

"No regrets," Weber said.  "I'm at peace with the decision."
