New woodcutting and campfire restrictions

YAKIMA, Wash.- The National Forest service reminds you that new woodcutting restrictions are in effect and campfire restrictions continue. The forest service says hot and dry weather have dramatically increased fire danger in the region.

The Industrial Fire Precaution level is up. Right now firewood cutters must shut down their chainsaws by 1:00 p.m. and stay in the area for one hour to watch for possible spark-ups.

Right now campfires are not allowed anywhere on the Naches Ranger District. Campfires are allowed only in designated areas in Okanogan and Kittitas Counties.

If you have questions about these new restrictions, call (509) 664- 9292
