Mulligan's Pub and Casino Closed
KENNEWICK, Wash.- Management at Mulligan's Pub and Casino said zoning laws gave the competition an advantage, a step up that eventually forced them to lock their doors after profits came in below expected.
Mulligan's is close to numerous schools and churches, making it illegal for them to serve hard alcohol. Their close proximity also meant they couldn't serve any alcohol until after 5 on school days, and as summer slowness set in, they were forced to shut down for good.
Though the Casino is shut down, the rest of the complex remains open.
"It doesn't affect any of our other businesses that we have in here. We have Bingo City, which will be opening September 1st, Camille's Sidewalk Cafe, which is, we're open everyday, you know 7 days a week, and the bowling center, same thing," said Tom Salazar, Food Manager.
"We expect the same amount of customers coming in here."
Management isn't quite sure what they'll do with the space yet, but they said possibilities include leasing to another gambling company.
The gaming commission still needs to oversee the closure of Mulligan's.
