KENNEWICK, Wash - National Night Out was celebrated Tuesday night. Neighborhoods all over the Tri Cities were participating.
The event serves as a way to get safety information out to people and connect them to their neighbors to prevent crime.
A safe community is created by communication among residents, said Centerpointe Apartment Manager, Shannon Rutherford.
"Be aware of your surroundings, just get out and meet people and educate yourselves on what is going on in your community and know things to make yourself safer and take control," Rutherford said.
Police officers and firefighters were on hand to answer questions. There was also dessert so people could relax and socialize.
