New Phone Systems Can Cause Security System Problems
PASCO, Wash.- Some new phone services use digital signals, which can fail to work with some security systems.
Most security servers are still analog based, and sometimes the digital signals are improperly decoded when they reach service centers.
Security services are warning people to make sure their systems are compatible before switching.
"It's proper and recommended that they should test the alarm system, make sure it sends signals, and once they do that, know that it's sent, then we're probably gonna be okay," said Michael Miller, Vice President of Moon Security.
The National Burglary and Fire Alarm Association is currently working with Congress to require phone companies to inform customers of problems when they switch their service.
