KENNEWICK, Wash. - Kennewick police were called to the scene because of a fight.
A car that was traveling at a high speed tried to flee.
It happened late last night on the 2900 block of West 19th street. Police stopped and searched the vehicle.
A gun was found in the glove compartment. The unidentified driver of the car and passenger, 30-year-old Eve Mercado had warrants out for their arrest. Both men were taken to jail.
Kennewick police believe they were involved in the fight and said having a gun can result in a much more serious crime.
Cpl. Bryan Weatherbee is with the Kennewick Police Department. He said, "If you display it, it's the whole aspect of what crime has taken place changes and if we contact someone with a gun that enhances both the person that has the gun and the officers involved."
Police were not able to determine who else was involved in the fight, but ask anyone who saw what happened to contact them.
