Nationally Renown Wine Scientists Visit Valley for Winemaker Workshop
YAKIMA, Wa - Winemakers and grape growers from here in the valley spent the day in a workshop with nationally renown wine scientists.
The program was held at the Yakima Convention Center. Three wine scientists from universities in California and Oregon lectured on different areas in the wine making process. More than 100 wine makers and grape growers from Central Washington came to the workshop. One local wine maker says it's an excellent chance to learn about the most up to date research, without having to travel.
"The wine industry especially in the wine making and grower sides and in science is very sharing," says Kay Simon of Chinook Winery, "We get very inspired sharing what one experiences and how that translates into the real world and wine quality."
Simon says the workshop also gives local wine makers and grape growers the chance to network with each other. The workshop was only for today and finished up about a half an hour ago.
