Hastings Not Confident in UN Resolution

KENNEWICK, Wash -  Congressman Doc Hastings voicing some concern over the new U.N. peace resolution between Israel and Hezbollah.

Hastings was in Kennewick Friday August 11th speaking at the Elks Lodge Dinner.

Like the Bush administration, Congressman Doc Hastings says Israel has every right to protect itself.

He says that the conflict in the middle-east is part of the larger war on terrorism.

Congressman Hastings says the new U.N. resolution likely will not solve the problems between Israel and Hezbollah.

"I don't have a whole lot of confidence that this one will be enforced because you're dealing not with countries, but you're dealing with terrorist organizations.  So I don't have a lot of comfort that this one is going to change where we are at all," says Hastings.

Hastings says it's very important for the U.S. to pay close attention to the conflict in the middle-east.

After almost a month of fighting, more than 1,000 Lebanese have been killed and more than 120 Israelis.
