Vehicle Flips on exit ramp
PASCO, Wash. - Five people were injured and one needs surgery after a car flipped-over in Pasco.
Troopers said the driver was distracted and speeding when he lost control.
It happened on the east bound I -182 off ramp to 395 south.
A woman is in serious condition while four others were treated and released from area hospitals. Fire fighters, police and paramedics worked to free the trapped passengers.
Witnesses cannot believe the victims are alive.
People were waiting in stand still traffic for about an hour, according to witnesses.
Washington State Trooper Brian Bond said, "We want to protect the scene and sometimes fire trucks or ambulances will block the traffic so we have more area to work with and we don't cause any more collisions, so the traveling public just needs to be patient with us."
Troopers said the driver and most of the passengers were wearing seat belts. Bond said, "This is a prime example of why seat belts do save lives, however, in this case, it appears the passenger wasn't properly belted in. If they were belted in, they would be less seriously injured."
Troopers said there are many preventable accidents and want this wreck to be a reminder to everyone to buckle up.
