KENNEWICK, Wash. - After he heard noises, a Kennewick man found a teenager trying to break into his home.
It happened just after five this morning, on West Fifth Avenue in Kennewick.
The homeowner called 9-1-1 after he saw the teen trying to get-in through a window.
Police arrived with a K-9 unit and an hour later they found the teen hiding in a home a few blocks away.
Kennewick Police Sgt. Brian Swartswalter said the K-9 was a big help, "When somebody is in a situation like that. When they're afraid and running away they tend to leave a lot of scent that time of the morning there's no a lot of people around which is ideal for the K-9."
Police said the man did the right thing by calling police immediately. The teen was arrested and taken into custody.
