Police involved in high speed pursuit

YAKIMA, Wash. - A man is behind bars after leading police on a high speed chase in Yakima.

According to the Yakima Police Department, the chase started Wednesday morning when an 18-year-old man wouldn't stop for a police officer.

The officer then proceeded to chase the man for about a block. The man then got out of his car in the 1100 block of South 18th Street and ran.

"The driver ran into this area and into this apartment complex where we found him hiding in an apartment," said Tim Bardwell, sergeant with the Yakima Police Department.

The man will faces charges of alluding police.

Police are investigating whether the car he was driving was stolen.
