WEST RICHLAND, Wash - There were two fires in West Richland on Wednesday and now fire investigators are looking into arson as a possible cause.
Both fires happened near a canal behind the 1700 block of Riverside Drive.
The damage was minor, but Edward Dunbar with Benton County Fire District Four said because of the steep hill on the side of the canal and the dry grass, the fires had the potential to threaten several homes.
It appears someone may have thrown something across the canal to start the grass on fire, Dunbar said.
Investigators do have a potential suspect from earlier incidents.
