FINLEY, Wash. - A pipe bomb was deactivated by the Richland Bomb Squad at Hover Park in Finley today.
An off duty Benton County Deputy called co-workers after he saw the pipe bomb wrapped in duck tape
The Richland Bomb Squad to brought their robot to the scene to remove the device.
Toothaker road which leads to the park was shut down for four hours.
Deputies do not know who put the bomb there but said the bomb squad successfully deactivated the device.
Richland Police Sgt. Kevin Berger said, "We use the robot as often as possible it allows our techs to say remote. We don't have to go up on a device, it we don't know the nature of it. It increases our safety."
Deputies cleared out sections of Hover Park. Over 30 vehicles were told they could not enter the park because of the pipe bomb.
It was about a foot in length and three inches wide.
Anyone with information on who is responsible for the bomb is asked to call 9-1-1.
