Enrollment Is Up At CWU, but State Funding Needs to Catch Up
Ellensburg, Wa - Enrollment is up at Central Washington University -- for the fifth consecutive year. School administrators say they need more state funding to keep up with growth.
CWU's enrollment only increased a small amount -- about one hundred students this year. School administrators point to strong student interest in the programs offered at central for the steady increase in enrollment numbers, but the university's president says they need funding to help manage the growing student population.
"We haven't been fully funded for the increase in students we've had. We regard it as an important sign that things are going well here, but it would helpful to have full funding of the full enrollment we have," says Dr. Jerilyn McIntyre, President of Central Washington University.
Applications at central were down for this coming school year, although enrollment is up.
