Suspected Carjacker is Caught in Kennewick

KENNEWICK, Wash. - A man is carjacked Monday night as he was waiting in the parking lot of a Kennewick drugstore.  The victim claims a man demanded him to get out of his car and did not allow him to remove his keys from the ignition.

Kennewick Police Officers said the victim quickly called 911 to report the crime giving the description and license plate number of the stolen car.  They credit that quick tip to the suspect's arrest.

Once police spotted the car, the suspected carjacker led them on a chase then crashed his car as he tried to hide from them on 7th Avenue and Kent Street.

Police said Larramie Swett ran into the Heatherstone apartment complex on 10th Avenue in Kennewick.  Officers found him hiding after a woman inside the apartment notified police.

According to police, the man has a long criminal history and had an escape warrant out for his arrest.

Larramie Swett was booked into the Benton County Jail on suspicion of several crimes including eluding a police officer and stealing a car.
