Doctor Plans to Appeal Charges Against Him

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Washington State Department of Health restricted Doctor Alan Hunt from writing any prescriptions for narcotic pain pills on Monday.

The state claims the doctor "excessively, over-prescribed" narcotics and wasn't available for doctors, pharmacists, and patients when they tried to contact Hunt.

They claim his constant moving from office to office made it hard for patients to find him.

One woman said the doctor prescribed eighteen medications for her mother and now wonders if her she needed all of the narcotic pain pills.

Doctor Hunt did write a note today saying he's appealing the common administrative matter.  He also said he knows his phone line is not working and is trying to get it up and running for his patients.

In addition, Hunt said anyone can file a complaint with the state and it's up to the doctor to defend themselves.  He's in the process of hiring a lawyer and said he is confident the matter will be resolved.
