YAKIMA, Wash. - The primary voting system can be a little difficult to understand.
For the last 60 years Washington has always had what was called a "Blanket Primary." In this primary, voters could vote for any candidate on the ballot, regardless of their party.
However, in 2004 that all changed and we now have what is called, "Pick-A-Party Primary." In this primary, voters have to choose one party either, Democrat or Republican. So depending on what party you choose, those are the candidates you will have to vote for.
