RICHLAND, Wash.- Energy Northwest plans on expanding it's Nine Canyon wind farm between Kennewick and Hermiston.
The project's third and final phase, they plan on adding an additional 14 wind turbines.
The addition would raise the farm's total operating capacity to more than 90 kilowatts.
There's no cost for the project yet, but they're working hard to complete contracts for the expansion.
"The popularity of wind power of course is, is strong these days, and the participants in Phase 1 and Phase 2 have already committed or asked for all of the output from Phase 3, so it has effectively already been accounted for," said Energy Northwest spokesman Brad Peck.
Benton, Franklin and Grant County PUDs are all partners in the project.
