Volunteers Wanted for River Cleanup

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash. - REI and the local Native Plants Society are planning a riverbank cleanup Saturday, September 16, beginning at 8 a.m. at Leslie Groves Boat Launch and stretching downriver to Howard Amon Park in Richland.

The plants society will remove dead cheatgrass and prepare the land for seed planting this fall.

They'll focus on the land between the bike path and the river.

Volunteers are encouraged to drop in on the clean up.  Work gloves are suggested, and REI offers a free tee shirt to all volunteers.

The business is also handing over a five thousand dollar grant to the plants society for conservation progams in the area.
