RICHLAND, Wash.- GateSkate makes heavy duty skates for off and on road use.
They are shipping the skates to buyers all over the world.
Recently, they teamed up with a French distributor to sell the skates overseas.
The skates are built on a state of the art water jet machine they share with other companies, and they say it brings new business to the area.
"Bringing manufacturing into the area is a positive move, and fortunately the Tri-Cities has been supportive of bringing in new manufacturing," said Patrick Gates, the company's founder.
The machine is the only one in the area.
It can cut anything from steel to granite.
Numerous companies around the region have partnered with GateSkate to use the machine.
