Columbia Complex Fire Update

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Wash. - Helicopters crews dumped retardant and water on two spot fires near Dayton.

One of the fires was located in the Upper Cougar Canyon and the other along Newby Ridge.

Firefighters said they are hoping for rain early this week but said the wind could shift tomorrow and cause problems.

The fire is 80 percent contained and has already burned more than 109,000 acres.

With hunting season on the way fire officials are continuing to reevaluate the closed areas.
