PASCO, Wash. - A woman was slashed with a machete and another man was killed while they were working for the state dealing with mental health patients.
To help avoid similar situations, The Department of Social and Health Services workers are speaking out.
Workers said they're put in danger when they're dealing mental health patients and on Wednesday they gave they're input to help change some laws. Local workers spoke thier minds at the Pasco Red Lion Inn.
The mental health program manager for DSHS said workers still have to deal with mental patients so they're trying to put together better protocols.
The input from DSHS workers will be written up in a report, and workers hope that report will help put laws protecting them in place.
